How Nursing School Entrance Exam Scores Are Used
One of the requirements for applying to most nursing schools is an entrance exam. Different colleges use applicants’ results on entrance exams in various ways. Some require a minimum test score as a prerequesite in order to be considered for the nursing program at all. Others will look at any score and use it, along with other criteria, as part of a formula for determining who gets accepted.
You should know how the colleges you’re interested in use the NET, TEAS, and HESI exams in the admissions process. Because every school has their own way of doing things, it’s impossible to detail them all here. You will have to individually research the colleges you’re interested in. This can help a lot if you’re worried about your chances of being accepted. For example, if you are a good test-taker and confident in the areas covered by the entrance exams, but your GPA is less than stellar, try looking for nursing programs that emphasize test scores.
